SAN CLEMENTE, CA/USA (Tuesday, September 15, 2015) - A lay day has been called at the Hurley Pro and Swatch Women's Pro, stops No. 8 and 7 respectively on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), with only small and fading surf on offer at Lower Trestles and improving conditions on the way.
"There are still some small waves around but we know there's something better on the way so we won't be running any heats today," said WSL Deputy Commissioner, Jessi Miley-Dyer. "We've had four really great days of competition so far so we're going to wait for some better surf for the final day."
When competition resumes, up first will be either Joel Parkinson (AUS) against Filipe Toledo (BRA) in the Men's Quarterfinals or Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) taking on Lakey Peterson (USA) in the Women's Semifinals.
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow at 7 a.m. local time to assess conditions and make a call for competition.
Surfline, official forecaster for the World Surf League, are calling for:
Southerly swell mix trends down further on Tuesday, as variable southerly wind prevails for the first half of the day and we see periods of rain. A fun, new SW and S swell will build in for the second half of the week, along with a modest increase in short period NW swell.
The Hurley Pro and Swatch Women’s Pro Trestles started on September 9 and could run through September 20, 2015. Fans can follow all the action LIVE via webcast on WorldSurfLeague.com and on the WSL mobile app.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA/USA (Monday, September 14, 2015) - Fading surf and unfavorable wind at Lower Trestles has prompted event organizers to call a lay day at the Hurley Pro and Swatch Women's Pro, stops No. 8 and 7 respectively on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT).
"This morning there is still some swell left over but that South wind is already starting to come in, which isn't great for here," said WSL Commissioner, Kieren Perrow. "We won't be running any heats today. We're expecting this swell to drop over the next few days but we are watching a good looking swell for the end of the week on Thursday and into Friday".
When competition resumes, up first will be either Joel Parkinson (AUS) against Filipe Toledo (BRA) in the Men's Quarterfinals or Bianca Buitendag (ZAF) taking on Lakey Peterson (USA) in the Women's Semifinals.
Event organizers will reconvene tomorrow at 7 a.m. local time to assess conditions and make a call for competition.

SAN CLEMENTE, CA/USA (Sunday, September 13, 2015) - After a day of high drama yesterday at the Hurley Pro and Swatch Women's Pro, stops No. 8 and 7 respectively on the Samsung Galaxy World Surf League (WSL) Championship Tour (CT), competition at Lower Trestles has been called OFF for the day.
"There are some fun waves out there but we can't run today because the event permit only allows us to hold competition on one of the weekend days," said WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow. "We picked yesterday, which was the better day of surf, so we can't run any competition today. The swell is a little bit less powerful and it's lost some of the that energy this morning. We're hopeful that we'll get something better than this and will keep a close eye on the forecast".
